Strands
California Environmental Literacy Initiative (CAELI) is an initiative by the nonprofit Ten Strands with the intention of increasing access to impactful environment-based learning for all of California's TK–12 students. The Green Careers Report is a Call to Action to provide universal access to quality green career education. This 120 page document needed a clean and cohesive design that tied each facet, profile, and data visualization together while highlighting the success of CAELI's efforts. Ten Strands extended our work together to develop design styles and deliverables for their data initiative.
Report Design
This report included stories, profiles, and data all designed in a cohesive style appealing to the welcoming and inspiring nature of the initiative. This design resulted in a 14.4% conversion rate with hundreds of downloads.
The design system of the report separated sections by color scheme, but the fonts and design style remained the same throughout. I also emphasized the foreground on images used for the profiles in order to portray the report’s human-centered intention.

I then created a postcard design for Ten Strands to promote the Green Careers Report.
Data Initiative
After designing the report, it became apparent that Ten Strands needed more cohesivity in their infographics and data visualizations. This became especially necessary as they began their data initiative. So I developed a structured design style reserved specifically for their data viz.
So I began this process by taking successful infographics and pulling elements that worked well. Then I looked at how I could implement these design elements into other existing data viz. I began with simplistic forms to illustrate the style and then eventually created a fully redesigned graph with this new style.
Promotional Postcard
I then created another postcard design to promote Ten Strands data initiative. This design also included the previously shown redesigned graph with the new data viz design style.
